Dave Kennedy is a freelance photographer with extensive experience covering news and sports. He has recently been a staff photographer at the San Francisco Examiner, and was responsible for putting together the digital gear/software/workflow for the new department when the paper was restarted in 2000. Dave's award winning work has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Daily News, USA Today, The Associated Press, United Press International, People Magazine, and most recently for SIPA Press. Notable events he has covered include Superbowl XXXVI, The 2000 US Open Tennis Tournament, Little League World Series, NCAA Basketball tournament, and numerous automobile races from local dirt tracks in Pennsylvania and New York to NASCAR events. Prior work has included positions as staff photographer for the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, and The Journal News in White Plains, New York. Dave was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1970. Coming from three generations of photographers and visual artists, he has developed independent projects ranging from the rituals and community of Laotian Buddhist monks, to the political campaign of Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry. |
